The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Middle Button Scroll
Middle Button Scroll brings Windows-style middle-button auto-scroll to Chromium browsers on Linux and macOS.
On Windows, the middle mouse button activates a scroll mode: click once, move the pointer away from the anchor point, and the page scrolls in that direction. Linux and macOS lack this behavior in most browsers. Middle Button Scroll adds the same workflow to Chrome, Edge, Brave, and other Chromium-based browsers.
HOW IT WORKS
• Middle-click once to enter scroll mode. A four-way arrow icon appears at the click point.
• Move the pointer away from the icon. The further the distance past the dead zone, the faster the scroll.
• Middle-click again, press Escape, or click with any other button to exit.
• Moving the pointer outside the browser window also exits scroll mode.
FEATURES
• Page scrolling and nested scroll panels (sidebars, code blocks, chat windows, tables)
• Scroll direction arrows that highlight based on pointer movement
• Adjustable scroll speed, dead zone size, and direction inversion
• Slow, Normal, and Fast presets for quick tuning
• Global enable/disable toggle without uninstalling
• Works inside iframes and shadow DOM components
• Lightweight design with no external dependencies
SETTINGS
Open the extension popup to adjust:
• Scroll speed: how fast content moves at a given pointer distance
• Dead zone: minimum distance from the icon before scrolling starts
• Invert direction: reverse scroll direction if preferred
• Enable/disable: turn auto-scroll on or off for all pages
PRIVACY
Middle Button Scroll runs entirely in the browser. No data collection, no analytics, no network requests. Settings sync through the browser's built-in storage API when sync is enabled.
COMPATIBILITY
Built for Manifest V3. Supports Chrome 109 and later, plus Firefox through the same package.
