About mdnow
mdnow turns the article you're reading into a clean Markdown file. Click the icon and it's in your Downloads folder.
What comes along
• Headings, lists, links, and quotes
• Code blocks, with their language
• Math, as LaTeX
• Tables and footnotes
• The article's pictures, with captions
• A short header with the title, source, author, and date
Menus, sidebars, and "Copy" buttons stay behind.
It tells you when something's off
If a page looks paywalled, only part of it came through, or the article sits inside an embedded box, mdnow stops and asks before saving: read the whole page instead, save what came through, or cancel. It never quietly hands you a broken file.
Pictures, your way
Link them to the web for the smallest file, or save them as files next to the .md so everything works offline.
Plain Markdown that opens anywhere
CommonMark with tables and footnotes, and no app-specific syntax.
Private by design
No account, no tracking, no analytics, no servers. mdnow reads a page only when you click the icon or press your shortcut. The only network request it ever makes is downloading pictures, and only if you choose "Save as files."
About permissions
Chrome will say mdnow can "Manage your downloads." That's how the file gets saved. If an article sits inside an embedded box from another site, mdnow asks for access to that one site, and only when you click to allow it.
