About Markdown.md
Markdown.md turns Markdown and text files into clean, readable pages right in Chrome. Open a file from your computer, click one in your downloads bar, or follow a .md link online, and it shows up formatted instead of as a wall of raw text.
FEATURES
- Clean, readable formatting for headings, lists, tables, checklists, images and links
- Dark mode by default, with a clean light mode one click away
- Table of contents sidebar that tracks where you are
- Raw view to see the original source with one click
- Syntax highlighting for code, with a copy button on every block
- Front matter shown as a tidy info table
- Prints cleanly with no toolbar or sidebar
- Toolbar button to open any file, check setup, and switch themes
WORKS WITH
- .md and .markdown files: fully formatted
- .txt, README, CHANGELOG and LICENSE files: formatted automatically when they contain Markdown, otherwise shown as clean, readable text
- .log files: easy-to-read plain text with dark mode
- .csv and .tsv files: a sortable table (click any column header)

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Everything runs on your computer. No accounts, no tracking, no data sent anywhere. The only thing saved is your theme choice.
SETUP FOR LOCAL FILES
1. Go to chrome://extensions, click Details on Markdown.md, and turn on "Allow access to file URLs". (The toolbar button will tell you if this is off.)
2. To open files by double-clicking or from the downloads bar, set Chrome as the default app for each file type you want (Windows: Settings > Apps > Default apps, search ".md", ".txt", etc.).
