About Margin — Article Audio
Good reads. Out loud.
Margin turns articles into audio directly inside Chrome. Open the side panel, read the current article or paste text, choose a voice, and listen. There is no account, Python installation, or server to set up.
START LISTENING WHILE AUDIO GENERATES
Playback begins when the first passage is ready. Margin generates the rest in the background and queues it for listening. Pause and resume whenever you need. If your device needs more time to generate the next passage, listening buffers and resumes automatically.
MAKE IT YOURS
Choose from eight English voices: Bella, Jasper, Luna, Bruno, Rosie, Hugo, Kiki, and Leo. Set narration speed from 0.75× to 2× before generating. That speed is included in the saved audio. After generation, use the full player's separate playback speed control to change how you listen.
TAKE THE AUDIO WITH YOU
Save the complete narration as a WAV file after generation finishes. Listen in Chrome or use the downloaded file in your preferred audio player.
YOUR ARTICLES STAY ON YOUR DEVICE
The speech model and its runtime are bundled with the extension. Article text and generated audio are processed in browser memory and are not sent to us or a hosted AI service. Margin has no advertising, analytics, or account system. Pasted text works offline; article extraction works on pages already accessible in your browser.
HOW TO USE MARGIN
1. Open an article and click Margin's toolbar icon.
2. Choose “Read this tab,” or paste text under “Review or paste text.” Highlighting text is optional and reads only the selected passage.
3. If Chrome blocks extraction, choose “Allow this site” and approve access to that website.
4. Pick a voice and narration speed, then choose “Make audio.”
5. Listen as passages become ready. Choose “Save WAV” when the complete file is available.
PLEASE NOTE
Keep the side panel open while generating and listening. Closing it stops generation and discards the temporary audio. Generation speed depends on your device. Margin supports English text, up to 60,000 characters per listen. It does not bypass paywalls or read Chrome internal pages, the Chrome Web Store, or PDF viewers. Some dates, abbreviations, and other text may be pronounced differently from how you expect.
