About MapLens: Neighborhood Data on Any Map
MapLens draws public neighborhood data right on top of the map you are already looking at. Click the MapLens icon, pick one layer, and the areas on the map are colored. Hover an area for its numbers. Click it to save or copy a share card.
WHAT YOU CAN SEE
Home & money: home values, rents, price trend, income, and a "What can I afford" view that checks each area against your budget.
Schools: school attendance zones and test-score ratings.
Risk: flood zones, hurricane, wildfire and sea level rise.
Daily life: commute time, walkability and internet access.
HOW IT WORKS
- MapLens is off until you click its icon (or press Alt+Shift+M). It runs only on that tab and turns off when the page changes.
- It works on many web maps. If it can't find the map, move or zoom the map once.
- One layer at a time, so the map stays readable. A see-through slider lets you see the map underneath.
- Flood zones appear once you zoom in close enough.
YOUR PRIVACY
MapLens has no account, no ads and no analytics, and it does not collect or sell your data. It only asks public U.S. government and open-data services for data about the part of the map you are viewing. See the privacy policy.
GOOD TO KNOW
The data is public, and some of it is several years old. Each layer shows its exact source and date in the panel. Values are area estimates, not prices or appraisals of any home, and not advice. Check the latest official source before any important decision.
MapLens is an independent tool and is not affiliated with any government agency or map provider.
