Loop Extract

Loop Extract records audio from a browser tab, from your whole system, or from your microphone, and gives you an editor to trim it, find the beat, change its tempo and key, and export it as WAV or MP3. RECORD • Tab: records the tab you're on. It stays audible while recording. No picker. • System: records any desktop app through Chrome's screen picker. Tick "Also share system audio". • Mic: records your microphone with echo cancellation, noise suppression and auto-gain off. • Mix the microphone in over tab or system audio, each at its own gain. • Keeps recording when the popup is closed. Alt+Shift+R starts and stops. EDIT • Zoomable waveform with sample-exact start and end fields. • Tempo, key and beat detection, with a bar-numbered grid, a movable downbeat marker and a metronome. • Beat Lock and Bar Lock snap selections to the beat or to whole bars. • Change tempo and key in one pass, using a high-quality phase vocoder. • Reverse and loop, with undo. • Export WAV or MP3 (128–320 kbps). Files are named with the tempo and key. • Keep everything in a local library, with quick preview and download. • Import WAV or MP3 files too. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No accounts, no analytics, no network requests. Recordings never leave your device. The extension asks for no site access and no downloads permission. WHY CHROME WARNS "READ AND CHANGE ALL YOUR DATA ON ALL WEBSITES" Chrome shows this warning for any extension that can capture tab audio (the tabCapture permission). Loop Extract only captures the tab you start a recording on, and only after you click its toolbar button or press its shortcut on that tab. It never reads or changes page content. PLATFORM NOTES • System audio on macOS needs macOS 14.2 or later, and Chrome must be allowed under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording. • To capture a tab with the keyboard shortcut, set it to "In Chrome" (not "Global") at chrome://extensions/shortcuts. • Requires Chrome 150 or newer. Loop Extract encodes MP3 with lamejs (LGPL-3.0). The licence ships in vendor/lamejs.LICENSE.
