Local PDF Studio - Offline PDF Editor & Annotator

Local PDF Studio is a free PDF editor, annotator and viewer that runs entirely inside Chrome. Every file stays on your device: nothing is uploaded, nothing is tracked, and it works without an internet connection. Most "free online PDF editors" send your documents to a server. Contracts, medical records, tax forms and signed agreements end up on someone else's machine. Local PDF Studio takes the opposite approach: the whole editor lives in the extension, so your PDFs never leave the browser. WHY LOCAL PDF STUDIO • Private by design: no account, no servers, no analytics, no telemetry • Works offline: edit PDFs on a plane, in a locked-down office, or on a bad connection • No caps: no file-size limits, no page limits, no daily quotas, no watermarks stamped on your exports • Your work saves itself: close the tab or restart Chrome and pick up where you left off NEW IN VERSION 1.4 • Translate a PDF beside the original: open a document in another language and a bar offers to translate it, or choose Translate in the Document menu. The original pages stay on the left and the new ones fill in on the right, page by page, and the two sides scroll together • A result you can keep: the new text is set where the original text was and can be selected and copied, while pictures, lines, numbers and web addresses stay as they were. Download it on its own, side by side with the original on one wide sheet, or as alternating pages • Done on your device: the work is handed to the translator built into Chrome (version 138 or newer), so your document is not sent to an online service. The first time you use a language, the browser itself may need to download that language's pack; after that it works offline • Good to know: the language you want to read it in has to be one written in Latin, Greek or Cyrillic letters, so not yet Chinese or Arabic, for example. A scanned page has to go through Recognize text first, which reads English only, and a table row comes out as one line for now, so amounts can drift out of their columns • Put a logo or picture on a page: use the Image button, paste it, or drop it on the page. Drag it into place, nudge it with the arrow keys, and resize it from a corner with its proportions kept. Save writes it into the PDF at the place and size you see. Pictures up to 10 MB and 16 megapixels are accepted, and the details hidden inside a photo, such as where it was taken, are not copied into the PDF ANNOTATE, SIGN AND FILL • Highlight, underline and strike through text • Freehand drawing, text boxes and sticky notes • Signatures: draw, type or upload one, and reuse it across documents • Signature script fonts are available in the Text tool • Fill in PDF forms, which stay fillable unless you choose to flatten them • Whiteout and redaction for content that has to go MAKE INVOICES • Fill in a ready-made A4 invoice right on the page: your details and logo, the client, the invoice number and dates, and line items with optional discount and tax columns. Line amounts and the total add up as you type, in your choice of three number formats (1,234.56, 1.234,56 or 1 234,56), and a long invoice continues onto more pages with the table header repeated • Download a real PDF with selectable text and an embedded font, so accented letters such as Đ and ć print correctly, or open the finished invoice straight in the editor to sign, stamp or password-protect it • Start the next invoice from the last one: every invoice you download carries a copy of its own fields and logo, and Load invoice fills the editor back in from it. Invoice drafts are not kept in the browser: the downloaded PDF is the save file ORGANIZE PAGES • Merge, split and extract pages • Reorder pages by drag and drop, rotate and delete them • Split pages in half to turn scanned spreads into single pages: down the middle or across it, left-first or right-first for books that open the other way, on wide pages only, every page or the pages you select. Annotations move to the half that holds them, and text stays selectable • Crop pages, with automatic margin detection • Find and remove blank pages, with a preview so you can keep any you want • Add an image as a new page • Page numbers with a live preview: nine positions, custom text, total page count and file name • A clickable table of contents: build the bookmarks panel PDF readers show down the side, with levels, bold, italic and colour, and entries that point at an exact spot on a page. Bookmarks a file already has are loaded when you open it, and the tree is written into the PDF when you save • Print layouts: several pages per sheet (up to 4×4), booklets that read in order once folded and stapled, and resizing to A4, Letter, Legal or A3 PROTECT AND CLEAN UP • Password protection: AES-256 encryption with separate open and owner passwords, and control over printing, copying, editing, commenting, form filling and page changes • See what's hidden in a file: scan for JavaScript, embedded files, metadata, document properties, links and embedded fonts, then strip what you don't want before you save • Remove watermarks, with the evidence shown: watermark and stamp annotations, optional content layers, content tagged as a watermark, and text or graphics repeated across the pages are each listed with what flagged them. Nothing is removed until you switch it on, and one click restores the file • Edit or remove document properties: title, author, subject, keywords, creator and producer • Flatten on save: turn form fields into part of the page, or turn every page into an image, at 72, 150 or 300 DPI SEARCH AND COMPARE • Recognize text (OCR) on scans: make scanned, image-only pages searchable, selectable and copyable without the scan leaving your device. Recognition runs inside the extension with the English model built in, so nothing is downloaded. It adds an invisible text layer and leaves the scanned image exactly as it was, skips pages that already have text, and Restore original undoes it. English…
