Limpid turns any web page into clear text. Press a shortcut and an elegant panel opens over the page: the summary writes itself in front of you, the article appears stripped of menus and ads, and you can ask the AI anything without leaving the page. It works the moment you install it: Chrome's built-in AI model runs on your device, with no account and no API key. What Limpid does - No key, no account. Come back to the page: everything is there, with no new API call. The History tab lists all your readings, with search, one-click reopening and per-page deletion. - Copy in one click. Limpid uses Gemini Nano, Google's on-device model built into Chrome (Chrome 138 or newer, see Chrome's system requirements). Nothing leaves your computer, nothing to configure: the model downloads once, then summaries and answers are generated on your device. Ideal for everyday reading. Full power with your own key. For sharper summaries, long articles and in-depth conversations, add your API key from Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, Mistral or Alibaba Cloud (Qwen). You choose the provider and the model, and you can switch at any time. No subscription: you pay your provider per use, a few cents per article. Your prompt, your way The instructions given to the AI are yours to edit, in the settings, as plain text: one prompt for the summary, one for the chat. Ask for shorter or longer summaries, a structure of your own (key figures first, a one-line verdict, a glossary of terms), a tone (neutral, critical, playful), a reading level, or the angle that matters to you (numbers, sources, counter-arguments). The default prompt, with key quotes and a takeaway line, is a starting point: your version is kept across updates, and the default comes back in one click. Your key, your model Limpid works with your own API key from Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, Mistral or Alibaba Cloud (Qwen). No account, no subscription, no middleman server: you pay your provider per use, a few cents per article. Privacy - Your API key and history are stored only in your browser. - Page text is sent only to the provider you chose, with your own key, and only when you ask for it. - With Chrome's built-in AI, nothing is sent to any server: the page is processed on your device. - Limpid accesses a page only when you activate it, collects no data and contains no trackers. Chrome's built-in AI (Gemini Nano) needs Chrome 138 or later, about 22 GB of free disk space and a GPU with more than 4 GB of memory or 16 GB of RAM; the model downloads once, from the welcome page or the settings. Interface in English and French; summaries and answers in the language of your choice (your browser's language by default, or the language of the page). Known limits Browser internal pages, the Chrome Web Store and PDFs opened in the built-in viewer cannot be summarized. On highly dynamic pages, extraction may be partial. With Chrome's built-in AI, only the first 20,000 characters or so of a long page are read (the panel says so).
