The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Lens
Lens adds an AI chat side panel to your browser. Open it on any web page and ask questions about what you're reading, get a quick summary, or work through ideas — with the page's content already in context.
You choose the AI provider and bring your own API key: Google (Gemini), OpenAI, or Anthropic. Your questions and the page content go directly from your browser to the provider you picked, using your key. There's no Lens server, no Lens account, and no telemetry.
FEATURES
- Side panel chat you can open on any web page
- Your choice of three AI providers — Gemini, OpenAI, or Anthropic
- Selected-text mode: highlight text on a page and ask about just that passage
- Streaming responses — watch replies arrive, stop mid-generation, or regenerate
- Export a conversation to a file
- Keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+L) to toggle the panel
BRING YOUR OWN KEY
Add an API key from your chosen provider in Lens's settings. Lens stores it locally in your browser and uses it to call the provider directly — you pay the provider for usage, not Lens. Free tier available from Google Gemini; usage-based paid keys from OpenAI and Anthropic.
PRIVACY
Lens is a client-side extension with no server, no telemetry, and no data collection. Page content is read only when you open the side panel, and is sent only to the AI provider whose key you configured. Full policy: https://shivamgupta92.github.io/lens-site/privacy.html
WHAT LENS DOESN'T DO
- No hosted service or account
- No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting
- No selling or sharing your data
- No modifying the pages you visit
- No reading pages when the panel isn't open
