About Korean Address Autofill (English)
Saves you from looking up your Korean address in English and pasting it field by field every time you pay on an overseas site or fill in a billing address. It fills your saved English address into the Address, City, State/Province and ZIP fields at once, and tells you which fields it left for you and why.
Note: the extension's own screens are in Korean only.
[What it does not do - please read first]
1. It does not pick a province or country from custom drop-down lists that a site builds itself (lists that do not open as a standard list). It tells you to choose from the list yourself.
2. It does not fill fields that a site locks so they can only be filled with its own "find address" button. Please use that button.
3. If the country list has no Korea (Republic of Korea), it leaves the country empty.
4. It does not translate a Korean-language address into English. You register an English address copied from Korea's official road-name address site (juso.go.kr).
5. It fills only fields that are visible on screen right now, in one form. Fields outside the visible area are left empty: scroll so they are visible and run it again. If a page has several address forms, it fills only the form of the field you last clicked (or, if none, the form with the most visible address fields). It does not fill hidden fields or fields that cannot be typed into.
6. If it is not sure what a field is, or if two or more fields look like the same kind, it leaves them empty rather than risk the wrong field, and tells you which ones it left.
7. Address only. It does not handle card numbers, names or phone numbers.
8. It does not fill separate sub-district fields.
9. In the detail line it only converts building/unit/floor notation such as "101동 1001호", "3층" and "지하1층" into English. Other Korean words, such as building names, must be typed in English yourself.
10. Lot-number addresses or addresses in Korean word order cannot be split automatically. Please correct the fields by hand.
11. Addresses are not copied to your other devices. Register them on each device.
12. It does not work on browser settings pages or extension store pages. On some specially built forms it may not find the fields.
[Who it is for]
- People who pay on overseas sites now and then and look up their English address each time
- People signing up for a new overseas service that asks for a billing address
[How to use]
1. After install, the address manager opens. Use the button that opens juso.go.kr to find the English form of your address and its postal code, copy it, and paste it in. The extension splits it into fields, and you can correct any field.
2. Enter the detail line (building, unit, floor) separately. "101동 1001호" becomes "101-dong 1001-ho".
3. Save up to 5 addresses with your own labels and choose one as the default.
4. On an overseas address form, click the extension icon or press Alt+Shift+E to fill with the default address right away. You can also right-click and choose "Fill English address" (shown in Korean) to pick an address.
5. A window shows how many fields were filled and which fields you need to fill yourself, with the reason. A note also appears next to each missed field for 5 seconds (you can turn this off; it does not change the page).
6. Copy the missed fields one by one with the Copy button for each field.
7. If the checkout page has another company's payment form inside it, an "Allow and fill" button appears. It asks permission for that one site only, and fills only if you allow it. You can see allowed sites in the address manager and remove them with "Remove permission".
8. It does not fill address fields that are not visible on screen or that belong to another form. The window tells you how many and what to do ("scroll so the fields are visible and run it again", "click a field in that form and run it again").
9. If something goes wrong, copy the result report or the self-check result from the address manager and paste it into your email to us. These reports do not contain your address.
[Why it needs permissions]
- Current tab: only at the moment you click the icon, press the shortcut or use the right-click menu, it enters that tab to fill the address fields. It does not enter sites you did not act on.
- Adding the fill function to the page: used at that moment to find and fill the fields in that tab.
- Storage: saves your addresses and settings in this browser.
- Right-click menu: shows the "Fill English address" item (shown in Korean).
- Optional site access: not requested at install. Requested only when you click "Allow and fill" on a payment form, for that one site only.
