The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Kan — New Tab Link Board
Bookmarks pile up, but the folders stop getting opened. You can't recall where you filed
something, so you end up searching for it again.
Kan takes a different approach. It turns your New Tab into a grid board where you place links
and notes in cells you choose. Once a thing has a spot, your hand finds it before you read the label.
■ Place it, remember the spot
· Link cells show the site icon alongside the name
· Note cells hold short text or act as section headings
· Drag to rearrange; select several cells and move them together
· Emphasize the ones you use most, lock the ones you'd rather not disturb
■ Group what belongs together
Box related cells into a named, colored region — "Work", "Docs I keep reopening". Groups move and
resize as a unit. Ungroup and the cells stay exactly where they are.
■ Separate boards
Keep work, personal, and per-project boards apart. Switch by tab; rename, duplicate, reorder.
Lock a board so it can't be deleted by accident.
■ Filling it up
· Click the toolbar icon to save the page you're on
· Drag a link from anywhere onto the cell you want
· Drop several at once and choose whether they fill across, down, or into your selection
· Import existing Chrome bookmarks, folder and all
■ Make it yours
Light, dark, or system theme · card and line grid styles · 8 cell colors and 18 group colors ·
background image upload with dim, blur, and glass-card effects · background color presets ·
a grid you size by columns and rows
■ Keyboard-first
Arrow keys to move, Enter to edit, Shift+arrows to select a range. Cmd/Ctrl+K jumps to any cell.
Cmd/Ctrl+Z undoes — and the history survives a reload. Press ? for the full list.
■ No account needed
It works the moment you install it. No sign-in, no waiting on a server. Everything lives in your
browser and, in this mode, is never transmitted anywhere.
Sign in with Google only if you want the same boards on more than one machine. Sync is optional.
Export to JSON any time.
■ What it doesn't do
No ads. No selling or sharing your data. Only anonymous usage statistics (never your content) — can be turned off in settings. It does not read your browsing history — only the links you saved yourself. The current tab's title and URL are read solely at the moment you click the toolbar icon.
