The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Interview Teleprompter
Interview Teleprompter keeps your notes on screen during a video call, split into sections you can jump between — and takes them off screen the moment you share something that would reveal them.
── HOW IT WORKS ──
Paste your notes and separate sections with --- or a markdown heading:
--- Tell me about yourself
I'm a product manager with **5+ years** shipping data tools.
- led the ==pricing rebuild== end to end
- grew activation 18% in two quarters
## Why this role?
Drawn to your **AI-first** approach.
The overlay shows every section as a collapsible row. Click one to open it, or move with Alt+← / Alt+→. Bold, italics, `code`, ==highlight== and bullets are formatted so the phrases that matter catch your eye.
── SCREEN-SHARE PROTECTION ──
This is the part worth reading before you rely on it.
The extension watches for the moment the page starts a screen capture and checks which surface you picked:
• Your entire screen — the overlay is in the capture, so it hides automatically
• A window — hides automatically
• A browser tab — the overlay lives on your meeting tab, so sharing a different tab (your portfolio, your slides) cannot capture it, and your notes stay up
Your notes come back on their own when the share ends. Alt+Shift+T overrides it either way. The toolbar icon shows a green dot while your notes are safe, or a red "!" if they are still on screen.
You can change this under "When a screen share starts": hide only when exposed (the default), always hide, or do nothing.
── POP IT OUT ──
Press Alt+P and your notes move into their own small floating window.
A separate window is not part of a tab share or a Chrome-window share, and it stays on top of a fullscreen meeting where a page overlay cannot. This is the most private way to run it. Press Alt+P again, or close the little window, to bring your notes back into the page.
── WHAT THIS DOES NOT COVER ──
Being straight with you, because it matters: the extension can only see screen shares that the web page itself starts. If you share from the Zoom or Microsoft Teams desktop app, or from OBS or any other native capture tool, it has no way to know, and your overlay will be visible.
Use Alt+P for those calls. A pop-out window stays outside everything except a full-screen capture.
── EVERYTHING ELSE ──
• A script per company — name them, switch in a click, export them all to a JSON file as a backup
• Jump to any question — Alt+F, type a word, Enter. Or Alt+1 … Alt+9 to go straight there
• Answer timer — shows how long the open answer has been running, turns amber at your target and red past it, because talking too long is the most common interview mistake
• Panel and text fade separately — a nearly invisible box with text you can still read at a glance
• Click-through mode (Alt+C) — the panel stops catching clicks meant for the meeting underneath
• Drag it anywhere, resize it, and it remembers where you left it
• Works on Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and any other browser-based meeting
• Optional: bring the overlay up automatically on the sites you list
── KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS ──
Alt + Shift + T Show / hide the overlay
Alt + T Show / hide (on pages that don't intercept it)
Alt + P Pop the notes into their own window
Alt + F Jump to a section — type to filter, Enter to go
Alt + 1 … 9 Go straight to that section
Alt + C Click-through mode
Alt + ← / Alt + → Previous / next section

── PRIVACY ──
Your notes are stored on your own device using Chrome's local storage. The extension makes no network requests of any kind — nothing is uploaded, collected, transmitted or shared, and there is no analytics or tracking of any sort.
── PERMISSIONS ──
• activeTab — to place the overlay on the tab you are currently on
• scripting — to inject the overlay; all code ships inside the package, nothing is loaded remotely
• storage — to save your notes and settings on your device
No website access is requested when you install. Two optional features ask for it at the moment you switch them on, and you can decline or revoke it at any time:
• "Keep the overlay across page reloads" — so a refresh doesn't drop your notes
• "Launch automatically on these sites" — so the overlay appears by itself on the hostnames you list
── WHAT'S NEW IN 1.4 ──
• Pop-out window (Alt+P) that a tab or window share cannot capture
• Multiple named scripts, with export and import
• Type-to-jump between sections
• Per-answer timer
• Bold / highlight / bullet formatting in your notes
• The overlay now renders in a closed shadow root, so no page can restyle, hide or detect it
• Removed the "tabs" permission, so installing no longer mentions your browsing history
• A built-in guide, opened on first install and from the ? button in the panel
• Shortcuts now work on every keyboard layout. They matched the character a key types, so Alt+C, Alt+F, Alt+T and Alt+1…9 did nothing on macOS (where Option+C types ç) or on a Persian, Arabic, Russian or Greek layout. They now follow the physical key.
