The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Image to Text - OCR & Translator
Read text in images and selected parts of webpages with Image to Text. Use Google Lens OCR to turn an image you paste, upload, drop into the popup, or capture from the current tab into editable text. Review the result, make corrections, copy it, or translate it with Google Translate.
For webpage translation, choose a target language in Settings, click Translate selected area, and drag over the part of the page you want to translate. Image to Text recognizes the text in that selected region and places a separate translation card beside each recognized text line. Switch any card between the translated result and its original text, and drag cards to move them to a clearer spot.
Features:
- Paste an image with Ctrl + V or Command + V, drop an image into the popup, upload a file, or capture a visible area of the current tab.
- Open the extension with Alt + Shift + O; customize the shortcut in chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
- Extract text only from the visible area you select.
- Translate OCR text in the popup and switch between the original text and translation.
- Choose source and target languages, swap them, search the full Google Translate language list, or let Google Translate detect the source language.
- Save a target language in Settings for future webpage translations; the saved target is also used for OCR translation.
- Translate multiple text lines in a selected webpage region, with a separate nearby card for each recognized line.
- Switch each webpage translation card between original text and translation, then drag cards to reposition them.
- Edit OCR results before copying them.
- Keep up to 20 OCR text results in History, stored locally in Chrome.
- No account, API key, or setup required.
Privacy: Images are sent to Google Lens only after you explicitly paste, upload, or select an area. Text from an image or selected website region is sent to Google Translate only after you click a translation button. The extension does not sell this data or use it for advertising. Images are held temporarily for OCR, and up to 20 OCR text results are stored in Chrome local storage for History; neither is stored on an Image to Text server.
