About Image Saver: Save as PNG, JPG, WebP
Image Saver adds one thing to your right-click menu: save any image as PNG, JPG or WebP.
Right-click an image, choose the format, and the file lands in your Downloads folder. That's it.
WHAT YOU GET
• Save as PNG, JPG or WebP from the right-click menu.
• Turns WebP and AVIF pictures that other programs won't open into PNG or JPG.
• Keeps the original file name. photo.webp becomes photo.png, not download.png.
• Converts on your device. The picture is never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
• Free. No account, no paywall, no ads, no tracking.
• JPG quality setting on the settings page (default 92).
IF A PICTURE CAN'T BE CONVERTED
If the format can't be converted (for example, the browser can't re-encode it), Image Saver saves the original file under its own name and tells you, instead of failing silently. Chrome cannot convert SVG pictures; you get a clear message saying so. Firefox can.
PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN WORDS
• Context menus: to add the right-click items.
• Downloads: to save the finished file to your Downloads folder.
• Storage: to remember your JPG quality setting on this device.
• Access to websites (asked once, when you first save a picture from a website, and you can say no): needed to read the picture you right-clicked, which often sits on a different server (a CDN) than the page. It is used only to fetch that one picture, only when you click the menu item. You can switch it off any time in the browser's extension settings.
PRIVACY
Image Saver collects nothing. No analytics, no accounts, no servers of ours. It makes no network request except to fetch the picture you chose to save. Your quality setting stays in your browser. Nothing is sold or shared.
NOTES
• Saving as JPG fills transparent areas with white (JPG has no transparency). PNG and WebP keep transparency.
• Some sites block downloading their pictures; then you'll see a message on the toolbar button.
