About I Hate Popups but I Love Videos and Images

Keep the videos you love. Block the popups you hate. This extension helps you save the ordinary video and audio files your browser already loads as you watch, and clears away the malicious popups, redirect overlays, and notification prompts that constantly interrupt video pages. Two everyday annoyances, one lightweight tool. SAVE VIDEO & MEDIA • One-click media saving - When a page serves an ordinary, savable video or audio file, a quick button lets you save it straight to your device. • Direct files & HLS streams - Detects standard media files and HLS playlists the browser already loads, so you can keep a local copy of the media you have the right to save. • Saved list - Build a local list of the items you saved so you can find them again later, without searching all over. • Current-tab focus - See what was detected on the page you are viewing, with an option to review other open tabs. BLOCK POPUPS & CLEAN UP VIDEO PAGES • Popup & overlay blocking - Stops malicious popups, forced new tabs, click overlays, notification permission prompts, and cookie banners that interrupt playback. • Site whitelist - Keep blocking on by default, then allow trusted sites that genuinely need their own windows or overlays. • Cleaner viewing - Fewer distractions around embedded players so you can actually watch the video. HOW IT WORKS 1. Play the video on the page so the media can be detected. 2. Use the save button that appears over supported videos, or open the extension from the toolbar. 3. Choose a detected item and save it to your device. 4. Malicious popups and overlays are blocked automatically on supported pages. 5. Add trusted sites to the whitelist when you want popup blocking disabled. SETTINGS • Turn popup and overlay blocking on or off per site • Manage the popup-block whitelist • Block notification permission prompts • Hide common cookie consent banners • Show detections from the current tab or all tabs • Choose the extension language IMPORTANT This extension works only with ordinary media that the browser can detect from normal page requests, and is intended for media you own or are authorized to save. It does NOT support, target, or work with any streaming platform, and it does not support DRM-protected media, paywalled media, or content behind technical access restrictions. ## Version 1.1.0 Updates (compared with 1.0.6) • Renamed the extension to “I Hate Popups but I Love Videos and Images,” changed its short name to “Love Media,” and reorganized the popup around separate Video, Images, and Popup Blocking tabs. • Added image collection for the current page and child frames, including regular images and CSS backgrounds, with previews and dimensions shown in one list. • Images can be downloaded individually or together as a ZIP with unique filenames. If some images fail, successful files are still included and the skipped count is shown. • Added direct download buttons to images at least 72×72 px. Buttons follow the actually visible area, ignore hidden, transparent, or clipped carousel images, and update after carousel transitions. • Improved cross-origin image downloads by applying the page referrer and letting ZIP requests use browser credentials where policy permits. When the popup detects an outdated background protocol, it automatically reloads the extension. • Fixed legacy allow-list exceptions that could make blocking look enabled while remaining inactive. Changes now apply immediately to open tabs, and saved state is rolled back if blocker registration fails. • Popup protection now follows exact user intent: it preserves the matching destination of a genuine link or form action while blocking unwanted new tabs, script-generated links or forms, destinations swapped after a click, fullscreen popups, immediate-blur popunders, and follow-up ad redirects. • Newly created cross-origin ad frames are protected too. Outdated blocker code left in open tabs is detected and recovered, while an early document-start bridge captures initial click intent and blocked-event reports. • Moved blocker configuration to a private channel so web pages cannot disable protection by forging public configuration messages.
