About Hover & Selection Translate

Detailed Description Translate text from its original location, including newly appearing text after the page opens. Select and translate only the untranslated parts after the page has loaded, such as Reddit, 1688, and Amazon. You can select text by hovering your mouse over it or dragging. You can also translate only the necessary range by right-clicking in popups, panels, frames, or page areas. The default display method replaces only the source text nodes with the translation in the same locations without replacing existing elements. It preserves existing fonts, links, card layouts, line breaks, and page behavior as much as possible. If needed, you can insert a translation card below the source text or switch to a small translation window displayed above the page popup. Useful for these situations • Popups, dialogs, and side panels that appear after opening a page • Comments, replies, feeds, and lists loaded later • Long pages where you want to translate only specific areas • Text added via tab switching, infinite scrolling, or real-time updates • Screens that need to be translated while maintaining the existing page layout Key Features • Translate by hovering over a sentence • Translate only text selected by dragging • Replace original text with the translation at the same location • Automatically detect the appropriate translation range around the last right-click location • Translate popups, layers, clicked areas, current frame, and the entire page • Manually select the DOM area to translate • Continue translating newly added text within the selected DOM area • Automatically translate a specified range when the page opens • Restore the original text for the entire page or only the translation within a selected range • Display options include replacing original text, inline translation cards, and small translation windows • Customizable Chrome extension shortcuts • Restore local translations for 7 or 30 days if enabled • Supports 15 UI languages including Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese Maintains page structure Default display method is surrounding Changes only the text node to be translated without replacing the entire element. Displays the translation where the original text used to be, while preserving existing links, buttons, cards, fonts, colors, line breaks, and click actions. If replacing the original text is not appropriate, you can use the translation card below the original text or the small translation window displayed above page dialogs and popups. Dynamic DOM Translation Many websites add new content only after you click, scroll, or open a panel. Using the right-click translation menu allows you to translate the following: • Newly opened popups and layers • Comments and replies loaded later • Infinite scroll feeds and lists • iframes and frames allowed by the browser • User-selected page areas • The entire current page When Dynamic Content Translation is enabled, newly added or changed text continues to be translated while the selected DOM translation session is maintained. Restore Original You can revert DOM translations to the original text without refreshing the page. You can restore the following ranges: • Translate all DOM elements on the current page • Restore only the translations within the drag-selected area • Individual inline translation cards • Locally saved translation history Items not translated The following items are not translated: • Text contained within images, videos, Canvas, or graphics • Input fields and editable text areas • Code blocks and browser-protected pages • Closed Shadow DOM • Frames inaccessible due to browser security policies Privacy Policy When a translation is performed, the text to be translated and language settings for the page are sent via HTTPS to servers hosted by Google for translation processing. The page URL is intentionally not included in the translation request. Automatic restoration on return is turned off by default on new installations. Page URLs, source text, translations, language settings, display status, and restoration information are stored in Chrome local storage for 7 or 30 days only if the user manually enables it.
