The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Hotkey Translate
I built this extension because I wanted to translate with just a couple of keys.
Select text on any page and press Ctrl+Shift+1: Google Translate opens in a new tab with the translation. Press Ctrl+Shift+2 to hear the pronunciation without leaving the page, and press it again to stop the audio. On Mac, the shortcuts use Cmd instead of Ctrl. These are the default shortcuts, and you can change them at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
The extension adds no buttons to the pages you visit. It only shows a short notice when you press a shortcut.
Settings
From the toolbar icon you choose the source language (or automatic detection), the target language and the audio voice. Changes are saved right away and, if you are signed in to your browser, they sync across your devices. You can also swap source and target with one click. The interface is available in English and Spanish.
Privacy
The extension does not collect or store your data. The text you select is sent to Google Translate only when you press a shortcut. It reads that text through the activeTab permission, so it has no access to the pages you visit until you use it.
Works in Chrome, Edge, Opera and Vivaldi (version 116 or later).
