About Half Bold: Speed Reading & Dyslexic Font for ADHD
π€ Half Bold: bold text starts for ADHD reading on any website
Half Bold turns the first letters of every word into bold text in what you read, so each one gets a clear starting point in long articles. Readers with ADHD or dyslexia use it on news, papers and lessons. Neurodivergent students keep it among their study tools.
π How to use the extension:
1. Add it to Chrome and pin it to the toolbar.
2. Open an article and press Alt+B.
3. Adjust strength, weight and colours.
4. Keep it on everywhere or on chosen sites.
π‘ What changes on the page
The extension styles the beginning of each word: 60% of its letters by default, adjustable from 10 to 100%. The rest can fade to a lighter shade, and very short words turn fully bold. Bold letters at the start are a popular speed reading technique. Unlike a speed reader that flashes one word at a time, the article stays as it is, so skim reading and careful reading both work.
β Key features
β Strength and weight: set how much of each word stands out and how heavy it looks.
β‘ Five styles: bold, underline, highlight, dotted or dashed first letters.
β’ Colour and line spacing: choose ink and fade colours and raise line height up to 2x.
β£ Rhythm: style all words, or only every second, third or later one.
β€ Site control: run everywhere, on selected sites only, or block a site.
π§ How to read faster with ADHD on busy sites
Start with strength around 50% and let the rest fade, then raise line spacing if lines run together. Keep strong emphasis for dense articles and a light highlight for quick news. Not sure how to focus while reading? Try the Rhythm setting on one site; each site keeps its own settings, and a toolbar badge shows whether the extension is on there.
π₯ Who uses it
β€ Reading with ADHD: an adhd font style that gives long texts a steady rhythm.
β€ Readers with dyslexia: tune emphasis and line spacing, and get a dyslexic font for Kindle.
β€ Students: emphasize research papers and notes while studying with ADHD or working on reading comprehension.
β€ Parents and teachers: simple assistive technology for dyslexia next to other reading tools.
β€ Fans of speed reading: try bold first letters on real articles without retyping anything.
π EPUB reader and converter
The converter opens Word, EPUB and text files in a reader tab with the same emphasis, so it also works as an EPUB reader. Export the result with the bold starts kept, as a web page, a Word document or an e-book. The editor shows pasted text with your settings as you type.
π‘ Kindle fonts for books and devices
The Fast Font section offers Fast OpenDyslexic, a dyslexia font with emphasized starts built in, and Fast Sans as Kindle fonts, plus Fast Sans and Fast Mono for computers. Your books keep the emphasis even where extensions can't run.

If you want an adhd reading extension that stays out of the way, install it, open a long article and press Alt+B. Something looks wrong? Tell us through the feedback link in settings.
β Does it change the font of web pages?
π‘ No. This dyslexia extension styles each word in the page's own font; for a dyslexic font on Kindle, download Fast OpenDyslexic.
β Will it help me read faster?
π‘ Many people try bold starts to read faster or to keep their place. It differs from reader to reader, so adjust the strength until long text feels comfortable.
β Does it work on every page?
π‘ It works on regular websites. Chrome blocks extensions on browser pages, local files and the Chrome Web Store, and code blocks and text fields stay as they are.
β How do I open EPUB files?
π‘ Open the side panel, choose the converter and pick a file. It opens in a reader tab with bold starts.
β Does it cost anything?
π‘ No. Everything described above is free to use.
β Is Fast OpenDyslexic a dyslexia friendly font?
π‘ It is based on OpenDyslexic, a font for dyslexia with heavier letter bottoms, and is a dyslexic font made for Kindle.
