The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Gmail Multi Account Notifier
Gmail Multi Account Notifier helps people who use multiple Gmail accounts keep track of unread messages from one Chrome toolbar popup.
Click Detect accounts and the extension finds the Gmail accounts you are already signed into in this browser, so you do not have to look up slot numbers by hand. You can rename any account, add or remove one, or edit it later. The name you give an account is the name shown everywhere.
If an account is signed out or points to a different email, it is shown in red in the popup and on the toolbar badge, so a broken account is visible at a glance without interrupting you. A brief network drop does not count: the extension keeps the last known numbers and quietly retries instead of turning everything red.
Features:
- One-click detection of the Gmail accounts you are signed into
- Custom names for each account
- Watch a specific Gmail label instead of the whole inbox, per account
- Mute an account, or keep it visible but silent
- Quiet hours, so counts keep updating overnight without notifications
- Per-account unread Gmail counts
- Chrome toolbar badge with total unread count
- Click an account to open that Gmail inbox, or set the toolbar button to jump straight to your default account
- Chrome notifications for new unread messages, bundled so several accounts never produce a burst of alerts
- A single summary notification when you return after being away, instead of one alert per account
- Optional sender and subject in notifications, off by default
- Signed-out accounts shown in red rather than as notifications
- Rides out brief network drops instead of flagging every account as broken
- Repairs itself when Gmail renumbers your account slots
- Slows its polling while your computer is idle, and stops entirely when offline
- Light and dark theme support
- Local-only settings storage
- No external server
- No Google Cloud or OAuth setup required
The extension uses Gmail's signed-in browser session and Gmail unread feed. It does not collect, sell, transmit, or share your data with any third-party server.
Data use:
- Stores your configured email addresses, account names, Gmail slot numbers, optional per-account Gmail label, unread counts, sign-in status, and extension settings locally in Chrome.
- Requests Gmail's unread Atom feed using your existing signed-in session, one request per account per check. Gmail's response may include message summary metadata, but by default the extension uses only the account identity, unread count, and sign-in status and discards the rest. If you turn on "Show the sender and subject in notifications", those two fields are additionally read and shown in the notification; they are never stored or transmitted.
- Does not send data to the developer, use analytics or advertising, or share data with third parties.
