About Ghost Job & Stale Listing Flag
Ghost Job & Stale Listing Flag adds an on-device risk badge to job listings on LinkedIn, Indeed, and Glassdoor, so you can spot likely "ghost" or stale postings before you spend time applying.
WHAT IT DOES
A ghost job is a listing that was never really open, or that closed long ago and keeps getting reposted. These posts waste the time of active job seekers who tailor a resume and write a cover letter for a role no one is actually filling.
This extension reads the information already visible on the job page and computes a simple risk score, right in your browser. Each scored listing gets a small badge with one of three bands:
- Clear — no strong warning signals.
- Caution — a few signals worth a second look.
- Likely Ghost — several signals point to a stale or reposted role.
Click any badge to see exactly which signals fired and why.
THE SIGNALS IT LOOKS AT
All signals come from text and dates that are already on the page. Examples include:
- Repost pattern — the same role posted or refreshed many times.
- Posting age — a role first posted weeks or months ago that still shows as active.
- Reposted-date gap — a recent "reposted" date sitting on top of a much older original.
- Missing salary — no pay information anywhere on the post.
- Applicant conflict — "be an early applicant" wording next to a high applicant count.
- Boilerplate density — generic filler text with little role-specific detail.
You can turn any individual signal on or off from the popup to match how you read listings.
HOW TO USE IT
1. Install the extension.
2. Browse jobs on LinkedIn, Indeed, or Glassdoor as you normally would.
3. Risk badges appear automatically on visible job cards and on the detail panel.
4. Click a badge to open the signal breakdown.
5. Open the popup to toggle signals, see your session stats, and adjust settings.
