The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Free News Reader
Do you hate running into paywalls at news sites? Never get stuck there again. You can almost always find a free version of the story!
Free News Reader detects when you've hit a paywalled article and gives you a one-click way to get the full context — for free. No subscriptions required. No paywall bypassing. Just smart AI that finds you the story.
HOW IT WORKS
• Visit any major news site
• A small notification bar appears at the top of paywalled articles
• Click "Free News Reader" and get an instant summary with:
– A clear headline
– Two key takeaway bullet points
– A full 200-300 word context article
– Links to free sources covering the same story (AP, Reuters, NPR, BBC, and more)
– An AI-generated editorial image
WHAT THIS EXTENSION DOES NOT DO
• It does NOT bypass, crack, or circumvent any paywall
• It does NOT access or scrape any paywalled content
• It only reads publicly visible metadata (headline, description) from the page you're already on
