FocusTube: Local AI Curator

Take back control of your YouTube feed. YouTube's algorithm is designed to keep you watching — not to respect your time. Clickbait, drama, rage bait, conspiracy rabbit holes — it's all engineered to hijack your attention. This extension lets you fight back. PRIVATE AI THAT RUNS ON YOUR DEVICE ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ YouTube Video Filter uses Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano — a local AI model that never sends your data anywhere. No cloud servers, no accounts, no tracking, no subscriptions. Everything stays on your machine. Just describe what you want gone in plain English: "political drama," "celebrity gossip," "rage bait." The AI understands meaning, not just keywords. A video titled "You Won't BELIEVE What This Politician Did" gets caught even if you never typed those words. You control how strict each topic is — from relaxed to maximum. No AI? No problem. The extension works perfectly without it. WHAT YOU CAN FILTER ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Keywords — match by contains, exact, starts/ends with, whole word, or regex. Each rule gets its own case sensitivity and optional date range. Channels — block entire channels with the same flexible matching. Quick toggles — hide Shorts, live streams, premieres, watched videos, and news sections with one click. Duration & views — set min/max thresholds to skip content outside your sweet spot. ZERO-FLASH PROTECTION ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Most filters have a dirty secret: you briefly see the content before it's hidden. That split-second glimpse of a clickbait thumbnail is often enough to pull you in. This extension blurs thumbnails and scrambles titles instantly — content only becomes visible once it's verified as safe. You never see what you chose to avoid. WHO NEEDS THIS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ You open YouTube to watch one tutorial and it's suddenly 2 AM. Or you're studying and the sidebar is full of gaming videos. Or you use YouTube for work but keep getting pulled into drama. Or you're just tired of outrage content affecting your mood. Whether you're fighting screen addiction, protecting your focus, keeping your kids safer, or just want a cleaner feed — this is for you. THE DETAILS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Works only on youtube.com — zero performance impact elsewhere. Changes apply instantly. Quick popup for everyday actions, full settings page for power users. Built-in debug monitor to see exactly what's happening. No data collected, no analytics, no telemetry. Your attention is your most valuable resource. Stop letting an algorithm decide how you spend it.
