Focus Mode – Task & Distraction Blocker

Focus Mode is a powerful, privacy-first Chrome extension designed to help you reclaim your attention, eliminate digital distractions, and build deep, consistent work habits—right inside your browser. Whether you're a student preparing for exams, a developer coding for hours, or a writer chasing deadlines, Focus Mode gives you the tools to enter flow state and stay there. At its core, Focus Mode combines a fully customizable Pomodoro timer with a hard distraction blocker that actively prevents access to time-wasting sites like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and more—during your focus sessions. Unlike other timers that just count down, Focus Mode enforces discipline: once a session starts, blocked sites are inaccessible at the browser level using Chrome’s secure declarativeNetRequest API, ensuring you can’t impulsively “just check” social media. What sets Focus Mode apart is its all-in-one, client-side design. Everything runs locally in your browser—no accounts, no cloud sync, no data collection. Your session history, task lists, streaks, and blocklist are stored securely in IndexedDB and Chrome Storage, giving you full control over your productivity data. Key features include: Smart Pomodoro Timer: Choose 25, 50, or custom session lengths. Lock the timer to prevent accidental changes, and pause/resume anytime—even with the popup closed. Auto Focus → Break Cycling: After a focus session ends, a break begins automatically. When the break ends, the next focus session starts—keeping your rhythm seamless. Hard Distraction Blocker: Edit your blocklist anytime. During focus, these sites are completely blocked—not just hidden—so temptation is removed, not just reduced. Streak Tracking & Session History: Stay motivated with visual streaks that reward daily consistency. Review past sessions by date and duration to track your progress over time. Integrated Task Management: Add tasks before each session and check them off as you complete them—all saved locally for continuity. Focus Mode is built for real-world use. It works in the background using Chrome’s alarms API, so closing the popup won’t stop your timer. Notifications alert you when sessions begin or end, helping you stay on schedule without constant checking. Ideal for remote workers, students, freelancers, and anyone battling the attention economy, Focus Mode isn’t just another timer—it’s a habit-building system that trains your brain to focus deeply, consistently, and without guilt. Install Focus Mode today and transform how you work in Chrome: fewer distractions, more deep work, and real progress—one focused session at a time.
