About Eye Care - Protect Your Vision
**Give your eyes a real break — on a schedule you control.**
Eye Care is a screen-time companion for anyone who spends hours looking at a
monitor. On an interval you set, it takes over the screen with a short,
guided routine of eye exercises — and it stays up until you either finish the
routine or confirm you already did your exercises. No dismissing it with a
stray click and forgetting about it.
**Why your eyes need this**
Staring at a screen for long stretches cuts your blink rate, keeps your focus
locked at one distance, and leaves your eye muscles static for hours at a
time. That combination is a well-documented driver of digital eye strain
(sometimes called computer vision syndrome) — dryness, fatigue, blurred
vision, headaches.
**7 exercises, chosen for a reason**
Each one ships with an honest note on what evidence actually supports it —
no miracle claims, no promises to fix your eyesight:
- 👁️ **20-20-20 rule** — look into the distance, the most well-supported
digital-eye-strain recommendation there is
- 👁️ **Deliberate blinking** — rebuilds the tear film that screen use dries out
- 👆 **Focus shift, near → far** — a standard accommodation exercise from
vision therapy
- ⚪ **Horizontal / vertical smooth pursuit** — guided eye-tracking exercises,
full range of motion
- ⚪ **Circular rotation** and an optional **figure-eight** — classic
eye-coordination drills
- 🤲 **Palming** — a simple, no-evidence-oversold relaxation technique
Every exercise opens with a big "here's what you're about to do" screen and a
10-second countdown, so you actually have time to read the instructions
before it starts — with sound cues throughout, so exercises that call for
closed eyes (like blinking and palming) still tell you what to do next
without looking at the screen.
**Built to fit how you actually work**
- Set the interval anywhere from 5 to 180 minutes
- Pick exactly which exercises are in rotation
- Adjust the pace (slower / normal / faster)
- Strict mode, so the break can't be casually dismissed with Esc
- Snooze 5 minutes when you're mid-task
- Works even if every open tab is a `chrome://` page or a blank new tab —
it'll open a dedicated tab so the reminder always gets through
