About Electri Terminal Calculator
# Electri Terminal Calculator - User Guide
## Overview
Electri Terminal Calculator is a Chrome extension for quick terminal selection reference. It helps engineers, buyers, sales support teams, and electrical component users convert and check common terminal-related dimensions directly in the browser.
The extension includes:
- AWG to mm2 reference lookup
- mm2 to AWG and color-code matching
- Maximum current reference from the bundled selection table
- Stud size and terminal hole-size lookup
- Terminal type code lookup
- Insulation code lookup
- Right-click selected text parsing
- One-click copy for engineering reference notes
This tool is designed as a fast engineering reference. It does not replace the final product specification sheet, customer application requirements, certification requirements, or engineering approval process.
## Who This Extension Is For
Electri Terminal Calculator is useful for:
- Electrical engineers checking wire and terminal compatibility
- Wire harness engineers matching cable sizes and terminal holes
- Purchasing teams reviewing customer requirements
- Sales engineers preparing quick replies for RFQs
- Industrial component users comparing AWG, mm2, stud size, and hole size values
- International customers who need to switch between US and metric notation
## Main Features
### 1. Wire Size Calculator
Use the Wire tab to look up AWG and mm2 reference values.
Supported examples:
- `AWG 10`
- `10 AWG`
- `8 mm2`
- `1/0`
- `2.63 mm2`
The result may include:
- AWG value
- Wire size range in mm2
- Terminal color code
- Maximum current reference
- Notes about the matched range
Example:
Input:
`AWG 10`
Result:
- AWG: 10
- Wire range: 2.63-6.64 mm2
- Color code: Yellow
- Max current: 48 A
### 2. Stud and Hole Size Calculator
Use the Stud tab to match stud size and terminal hole size.
Supported examples:
- `#10`
- `M6`
- `6 mm`
- `1/4"`
- `10.5 mm hole`
The result may include:
- Stud size in inch notation
- Stud size in mm
- Recommended terminal hole size in mm
- Terminal hole size in inch notation
Example:
Input:
`M6`
Result:
- Stud size: 1/4"
- Stud metric: 6.0 mm
- Hole metric: 6.4 mm
- Hole inch: .252 inch
Important note: Stud size means the fastener diameter. Hole size means the terminal tongue opening. Always confirm the final hole size against the product drawing and assembly tolerance.
### 3. Terminal Type Lookup
Use the Type tab to search terminal family names or model codes.
Supported examples:
- `ring`
- `spade`
- `FD`
- `butt`
The result may include:
- Terminal type
- Code
- Insulation code reference
- Wire size reference
- Size reference
- Tongue width reference
Example:
Input:
`ring`
Result:
- Ring Terminals
- Code: R
- Insulation reference: NYD
- Wire reference: 1.25
- Tongue reference: 3.7
### 4. Insulation Code Lookup
Use the Insulation tab to search insulation code, material, or crimp structure.
Supported examples:
- `NY`
- `NYD`
- `D`
- `vinyl`
- `nylon`
The result may include:
- Insulation code
- Crimp type
- Material
- Temperature rating
- Usage note
Example:
Input:
`NY`
Result:
- Code: NY
- Crimp type: Nylon Insulated - Single Crimp
- Material: Nylon
- Temperature rating: 105 C
### 5. Right-Click Text Parsing
You can select terminal-related text on a webpage and send it to the extension.
How to use:
1. Highlight text on any webpage.
2. Right-click the selected text.
3. Choose `Calculate with Electri Terminal`.
4. The extension will parse recognized wire, stud, terminal, or insulation values.
Example selected text:
`M6 ring terminal for 10 AWG cable`
Possible results:
- AWG 10 wire reference
- M6 / 1/4" stud reference
- Ring terminal type reference
The extension only processes text that you actively select.
### 6. One-Click Copy
Each result card includes a Copy button. Use it to copy a clean engineering reference sentence for emails, RFQs, BOM notes, or internal comments.
Example copied text:
`Reference selection: AWG 10, 2.63-6.64 mm2, Yellow color code, max current 48 A. Confirm terminal form, insulation code, and product specification before final selection.`
