About Disable Caret Browsing

Disable Caret Browsing is a lightweight, privacy-focused Chrome extension designed to prevent Google Chrome from triggering the F7 "Turn on caret browsing?" confirmation dialog and shortcut. Why this extension? In Google Chrome, pressing the F7 key triggers caret browsing, which can be annoying if pressed accidentally or when using function keys. While other solutions might block all F7 key events indiscriminately, Disable Caret Browsing is specifically designed to be IME-friendly: it will NEVER block or interfere with Japanese IME Katakana conversion or text composition. Key Features: - 🚫 Completely disables the F7 Caret Browsing dialog and activation on all web pages. - 🇯🇵 Preserves IME text composition (e.g. Japanese full-width Katakana conversion via F7). - ⚡ Runs immediately at document_start in capture phase — no lag or missed keypresses. - 🖼️ Works inside iframes (all_frames: true). - 🔒 100% Privacy-focused: Uses storage and alarms for pause settings and timers; zero tracking, zero external network requests. - 🌐 Manifest V3 compliant. Free to use. Website and support: https://sarope.com/en/extensions/disable-caret-browsing/
