Define — Dictionary Popup & Word Lookup

The dictionary popup, rebuilt for modern Chrome. Reading something and hit a word you don't know? Select it, right-click, Define — a clean bubble appears right there with the definition, phonetics (IPA) and a pronunciation button. No new tab, no losing your place. Two ways to look up • Right-click → Define "word" — works out of the box, zero site access • Double-click mode (optional): double-click any word, anywhere, and the definition appears instantly. You stay in control — Chrome asks for site access only if you turn this on, and you can turn it off any time. What you get • Definitions grouped by part of speech, with usage examples • Synonyms at a glance • IPA phonetics + audio pronunciation • Toolbar popup with a search box for quick lookups • Local history of your last 50 lookups — tap to revisit, one click to clear Private by design • A lookup sends exactly one thing over the network: the word itself. Never the page you're on, never your browsing. • History is stored on your device only. No account, no sync, no cloud. • No analytics, no telemetry, no remote code. • Definitions from the community-run Free Dictionary API (Wiktionary data), with source attribution on every entry. If your old dictionary extension was abandoned or removed in Chrome's Manifest V2 shutdown, Define is the modern, privacy-first replacement.
