About Couchtab
Laptop on the table, you on the couch? Couchtab turns your phone into a remote for Chrome on that computer, whether you watch its own screen or a TV it is plugged into. No app to install on the phone, and no account.
Your tabs as cards. Each tab in Chrome's window is a card on your phone. Swipe to switch tabs, drag a card to scroll the page. Back, forward, reload and mute are on the toolbar; swipe a tab in the list to close it.
Media. Play, pause, seek ±10 s with a tap and drag a scrubber; speed, volume and captions where the player has them. Full screen fills the screen with the video and keeps the display awake. On YouTube and YouTube Music: Up next, playlists, chapters and the queue.
Reading. Zoom, Smart invert for dark rooms, full screen, auto-scroll at three speeds, and a table of contents that jumps to a heading.
PDFs. Turn pages, go to a page, fit page or width, dark mode and Present — one page at a time, full screen. Couchtab's own PDF reader turns pages instantly and adds find and the PDF's bookmarks; Chrome's viewer stays one tap away for printing and forms.
Private by design. Phone and computer connect directly over your Wi-Fi whenever the network allows. When it doesn't, messages go through Couchtab's relay end-to-end encrypted with a key that never leaves your two devices. No analytics, no ads, nothing stored on a server.
How to start: click the Couchtab icon in Chrome, take a photo of the pairing code with your phone, and open the link. Works with iPhone and Android browsers. On an iPhone you can add it to the home screen for an app-like remote (it asks for the pairing code once more there).
