About Corporate Cipher - Decode the Corporate World
Corporate Cipher — Decode the Corporate World
The definition of Cipher: "A technique to decode hidden information to make it understandable". That is what this extension applies to the corporate world while you browse the internet.
Reading about a company and want to know who it actually funds? Highlight its name on any page, right-click, and choose "Analyze with Corporate Cipher." Its public record opens right there — no new tab, no searching, no losing your place.
The core of the extension is documented data. Financial Contributions shows a company's federal political giving straight from Federal Election Commission filings: total contributed, and how it split between parties, drawn as a chart you can read in a second. Leadership Demographics breaks down the makeup of a company's executive team using Wikidata records and US Census surname data — with the methodology and confidence level stated plainly, so you always know whether you're looking at a headcount or an estimate. Alongside these, a set of lighter AI-generated summaries covers things like environmental impact, technology innovation, and political leaning. Those are labeled separately in the interface as commentary, not records.
By default the extension stays out of the way — it doesn't alter the pages you visit until you ask it to. If you'd rather have companies surfaced as you read, you can switch on automatic highlighting, and company names throughout the page become clickable. Results appear either in a floating panel next to what you clicked or in a sidebar that stays docked while you scroll, and font size is adjustable. On Amazon product pages, the extension connects the brand in front of you to the company that actually owns it. Every figure links back to the full report with its sources cited.
This is the best way to truly understand what companies you are supporting.
