The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Copy as Markdown
Most notes apps, docs, and AI chat inputs accept plain text. When you copy from the web, that is often all they receive—even though the browser also put rich HTML on the clipboard. Headings flatten. Link destinations vanish. Tables become a jumble of lines. Image context disappears.
Copy as Markdown is a selection-first bridge. You choose the fragment that matters; the extension reads the live DOM for that selection and converts it to portable Markdown you can paste anywhere—without sending the page to a server.
How it works
Select content on the page
Press Option+C (macOS) or Alt+C (Windows/Linux)—configurable in the options page
Paste Markdown wherever you need it
Nothing runs until you trigger a copy. Conversion happens entirely in your browser.
Why structure survives
Normal copy assumes the destination understands HTML. Many do not. Copy as Markdown targets Markdown instead: a plain-text format that still carries headings, links, lists, code blocks, images, and tables. The result travels cleanly into Obsidian, Notion, GitHub, Slack, or an LLM prompt—without you rebuilding structure by hand.
Conversion profiles
Different workflows need different trade-offs. Choose a profile in the options page, or fine-tune image, link, and source-note behaviour.
AI-ready (default): cleans tracking and redirect URLs, resolves relative links, and keeps selections lean for LLM context
Faithful Markdown: minimal normalisation when you want URLs and images preserved as closely as practical
Referenced clip: AI-ready cleanup plus an explicit source citation on every copy
When links or images are materially transformed, a source note is added—you are never left with a lossy copy that still looks faithful.
Tables and images
Simple tables become Markdown tables. Merged or irregular layouts fall back to a readable row list—because a broken table is worse than an honest one.
Images follow the same principle: meaningful images are kept when practical; low-priority image URLs can be summarised when a selection would otherwise bloat an AI context window.
GitHub Flavoured Markdown
Strikethrough, task lists, and improved table handling for common web content—so pasted output matches what most Markdown tools expect.
Privacy
The extension only reads HTML for your current selection when you copy. Conversion runs on your device. Nothing is uploaded or stored on a server.
Settings
Open the extension options to choose a conversion profile, image and link handling, source-note behaviour, and whether to use a page shortcut or a browser-managed shortcut.
