The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Content Guard
Content Guard blocks the sites you choose — permanently, at the network level, before they ever load.
Most site blockers inject a content script into every page you visit and hide things with CSS or a JS redirect after the page has already started loading. Content Guard doesn't do that. It uses Chrome's native declarativeNetRequest engine, so blocked domains are stopped before any request completes — no flash of blocked content, no per-page JavaScript overhead, no measurable slowdown no matter how many sites you block.
FEATURES
• One-click blocking — click the extension icon and block whatever site you're currently on, no typing required
• Manual add/remove — type any domain to add it to your blocklist
• Optional adult-content default list — the "Load Defaults" button adds a curated list of about 100 known adult/pornographic domains to your blocklist in one click, so you don't have to add them one by one. This is entirely optional and does nothing unless you click it.
• Scales to 500 domains — enforced natively by Chrome with no performance cost, whether you block 5 sites or 500
• Local-only storage — your blocklist is stored in your own browser via chrome.storage.local. Nothing is sent to any external server.
PERMISSIONS USED, AND WHY
• declarativeNetRequest — enforces the actual blocking
• storage — saves your blocklist locally in your browser
• activeTab — reads the URL of your current tab only when you click "Block Current Page," and only for that one action
Content Guard does not collect, transmit, or sell any data. Everything happens locally in your browser.
