The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Clip Capture
Clip Capture is a local tool that detects videos and audio playing on a web page and saves them to your device when you choose to do so.
No account is required. The extension has no ads or usage tracking, and it does not send browsing, video or audio information to servers operated by the developer.
It supports segmented delivery (HLS and DASH/fMP4), directly delivered files (MP4, WebM, MP3 and AAC), and playback that uses MediaSource. For compatible video, audio-only output can be saved as M4A without re-encoding.
🔍 Main features
・Detect and save videos or audio playing on a web page
・Capture mode for playback that cannot be saved directly
・Save video and audio, or audio only
・Choose which audio track to save when multiple tracks are available
・Pause, resume, stop, save or delete an active task
・Temporarily store large outputs and recover them after restarting the browser
・Light and dark themes
・Japanese and English interface
👀 How to use
The color of the Clip Capture icon shows whether a video or audio item is available on the current page.
・Red icon: A video or audio item that may be available for saving has been detected.
・Blue icon: No video or audio item available for saving has been detected yet.
1. Play the video or audio that you want to save on the web page.
2. While the desired content is playing, click the Clip Capture icon in the Chrome toolbar.
3. Select the video or audio item that you want to save from the detected list.
4. If the content cannot be saved normally, Capture mode is selected automatically. Choose a playback speed if needed.
5. Select start for video and audio, or audio only for audio-only output. You can pause, resume or stop the task while it is running.
6. When processing is complete, the generated file is saved to your device’s Downloads folder.
🔑 Privacy and network communication
To detect and save videos or audio, Clip Capture processes information about the open tab, the content being played, the data needed for saving, and the current playback position inside the extension.
Because this information may fall under “Web history,” “User activity” and “Website content” in the Chrome Web Store, it is disclosed in the Privacy section.
This information is used only to provide detection, capture and saving functions started by the user. It is not sent to developer-operated servers or analytics services and is not used for sale, sharing, advertising, behavioral tracking or profiling.
To retrieve the selected video or audio, the extension communicates with the original website and its delivery servers. This communication is required for the saving function and is not a transfer to a data-collection server operated by the developer.
Settings, active task information, recovery data and temporary video or audio data may be stored inside the browser only as needed to provide these functions. The extension does not store or reuse login cookies or authorization credentials.
⚠️ Safety and limitations
・DRM-protected content cannot be saved, and the extension does not remove, decrypt or bypass DRM
・Compatibility depends on the website’s delivery method, the codecs used and the server response
・Saving is not guaranteed for every website, video or audio item
・Use the extension only for content that you have the right or permission to save
・YouTube is not supported
