The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About ClickShield – Hover Safety Check
ClickShield checks the link under your cursor against three independent threat databases (Google Safe Browsing, URLhaus, and PhishTank) the moment you hover over it, before you ever click. If a link is already known to be unsafe, ClickShield can also stop the click itself and ask you to confirm before it opens.
What it does:
- Hover warnings for unsafe links, and optional confirmations for safe ones
- A confirm-before-navigate gate for links already flagged unsafe on the page you're viewing
- Automatic resolution of shortened links (bit.ly, tinyurl.com, and others) to their real destination, so you know where you're actually going
- A 6-hour local cache so repeat hovers of the same link don't repeat the check
Every check runs through ClickShield's own backend proxy, which holds the three providers' API keys so the extension itself never has to. No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
