About CiteX
CiteX captures bibliographic references from academic web pages and saves them to your personal CiteX library.
On article pages, a CiteX Tag lets you pre-cite, favorite, or share a paper. You can also right-click and choose “Save to CiteX.” Detection runs locally on your computer. Metadata is uploaded only when you save.
What you can do
• In-page Tag: PreCite, Favorite, and Share
• Right-click “Save to CiteX”
• Local extraction of title, authors, DOI, and other fields
• Sync with your CiteX website session so saved items appear in your library
• Drag the Tag to any screen edge; position is remembered
How to use
1. Install the extension and pin it to the toolbar
2. Sign in at https://citex.online with email or ORCID
3. Open the popup and click Sync now (or Connect Library)
4. Open a paper, then save with the Tag or the context menu
The CiteX website is where you organize your library, export citations, and discover related work with AI. This extension’s purpose is capturing references from the web.
Supported sites
Works on many publisher, journal, and repository pages. Capture quality depends on whether the page exposes bibliographic metadata.
Privacy
Page HTML is processed locally to detect single-article pages. Unsaved page content is not uploaded. Login tokens are used only to sync your CiteX account.
