The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About chrome-use
chrome-use connects your logged-in Chrome to the open-source chrome-use CLI installed on the same computer. Run browser tasks from your terminal or from the extension's native side panel.
Local agent side panel
Choose your installed Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode or Pi and its existing login, stream replies, review browser-tool arguments before allowing a call, stop tasks, edit queued messages, and keep local conversation history. Discover local agent installations and preview supported model/provider configuration changes. New conversations use their own browser sessions; they do not automatically take over the page you are viewing. Agent conversations and configuration writes currently support macOS/Linux; Windows panel discovery and configuration viewing are read-only.
How it works
The extension uses Chrome native messaging to communicate with the local CLI and relays browser automation commands to the intended tabs. Its packaged side panel stays outside webpage DOM. Install and pair the CLI with chrome-use extension install. The agent panel requires chrome-use 1.5.189 or later.
Data handling
The extension has no analytics or tracking backend. The chosen local CLI may send your task and requested webpage observations to its configured model service, whose terms and privacy policy apply. Conversation messages and tool returns are stored on your computer. Profile labels and user-requested cookie operations pass through the local native host. We do not operate a server that receives your task contents.
