The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Change Text or Image on a Web Page
ContentChanger edits text and pictures right on a web page, in front of you. Change a headline, swap a photo, fix a label — the page updates instantly, nothing gets published, and you can undo everything. You are editing your own copy of the page, not the site itself.
✏️ CHANGE ANY TEXT
Click a heading, paragraph, link or button and just type. Enter saves your change, Shift+Enter adds a new line, and the arrow keys jump you to the next bit of text. Form fields keep working normally and go into undo too.
🖼️ SWAP ANY PICTURE
Pick a file, paste from the clipboard, type an image URL — or just drop a picture onto the page. Photos, responsive images and background images all work. The picture keeps its original size and spot (styles and scripts on the site can still shift things around). Pasting is something you do — the extension never reads your clipboard in the background.
🖱️ START AND FINISH
Click the extension icon, press Alt+Shift+E, or use the right-click menu. Hover to see what you can edit, click it, and type.
A small toolbar shows how many changes you made — grab its handle and drag it anywhere on screen. Done saves your typing and stops editing. Escape closes a panel or finishes everything. When you finish with changes, you get a short summary.
↩️ UNDO EVERYTHING
Changed your mind? Hit Ctrl/Cmd+Z or use the toolbar to step back through your changes, one by one. Discard reloads the tab (it asks first) and wipes every change. Reloading can't undo what a website already saved or sent.
🔒 PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No accounts, no analytics, no collecting your edits. Everything lives in the page and your browser's memory — nothing is saved or sent to us. The extension only touches the tab you activate, using temporary access: activeTab, scripting and contextMenus. No storage permission, no standing access to websites.
Heads up: this isn't a private vault. Image URLs load from their hosts, and a website's own scripts can see and send whatever gets typed or changed on it. Don't put sensitive info in a preview. All extension code ships inside the package — nothing is downloaded from the web.
❓ GOOD TO KNOW
Chrome settings, the Web Store and other protected pages can't be edited — you get a clear notice instead. Some embedded frames and fast-moving sites may not cooperate. Local files need the browser's file-access setting. Help has shortcuts, privacy notes and version info. The welcome tab shows up once, on install, and asks you to accept the Terms of Use.
📸 WANT A SCREENSHOT?
Screenshot capture isn't built in. One optional link in Help opens our separate capture tool — it saves full-page screenshots and PDFs. No pop-ups and no promotions anywhere else.
⚖️ LAWFUL USE AND YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
ContentChanger is for lawful preview work on content you are entitled to change — your own material, approved drafts, or private testing. Installing confirms that your editing complies with applicable law and third-party rights, and that the tool and its results will not be applied to deceive or defraud anyone, create misleading records or screenshots presented as genuine, phish, impersonate, defame, or infringe intellectual property. You are solely responsible for your edits and for what you do with them. Editing a page changes only your local view, not the website itself, and must not be presented as the genuine page.
📜 NO WARRANTY AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
The extension is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for claims arising from your edits or their use, and you agree to hold the developer harmless against such claims. The full Terms of Use are available on our website and continue to apply as you use the extension.
