The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Caveat — Fake Review & Price Checker
Know if the reviews are real, and the price is good — before you buy.
Caveat checks a product's reviews for the patterns that show up when a
review base has been gamed, and checks today's price against the
product's own price history — showing both right on the page. Free, no
account, no subscription, and built read-only: it never crawls, never
touches your account, and never fetches a page you didn't open yourself.
WHAT IT DOES
• Trust score — free, rule-based analysis of rating distribution and
review language, shown as a badge right on the product page.
• Price check — free and also rule-based: is today's price actually good,
based on the product's own price history, not a guess. When it's a
genuinely good price, Caveat shows it inline, right in the badge.
• Works on Amazon (Ireland, UK, US, Germany, France, Italy, Spain,
Netherlands, Sweden, Canada, and more) and Etsy.
WHY CAVEAT
Fakespot shut down in 2025. Caveat was built as its spiritual successor —
same idea (a trust score for reviews, not just a star rating), rebuilt
from scratch with a stricter privacy stance: no crawling, no background
fetches, no touching your cookies or account. It only ever reads the page
you're actually looking at.
AN HONEST WORD ON WHAT THE SCORE IS
Caveat's score is an automated opinion about a pattern in a listing's
public reviews — not a finding of fact about any seller or product, and
it can be wrong. Treat it as one input to your own judgment, not a
verdict. Full explanation, and what to do if you think an analysis got
something wrong: caveatpro.com
PRIVACY
• No crawling — Caveat only reads pages you open yourself.
• No ads, no ad-tech, no user tracking or analytics.
• No account, no sign-up — just an anonymous install id used to build
price history and show your own savings tally, never tied to your
name, email, or Amazon/Etsy account.
• Full privacy policy: caveatpro.com/privacy.html
HOW IT'S FREE
Caveat has no subscription and never will. When the price check finds a
genuinely good price, Caveat may show its own "Buy on Amazon" or "Buy on
Etsy" link — a link you choose to click, never a rewrite of the
marketplace's own Buy button — and earns a small commission on qualifying
purchases made through it. That's Caveat's only source of revenue.
