Byte Cast

Byte Cast is a QA bug recorder for dev-QA teams. Start a recording, reproduce the bug, stop. It captures everything automatically, then writes the bug report for you and files it wherever your team tracks issues. WHAT IT CAPTURES • Screen recording of the browser tab or full screen (WebM video), with pause/resume mid-recording and a choice of quality presets (Standard/High/Compact) • Console logs (errors, warnings, info) with timestamps • Network requests and responses including status codes and bodies • Click and navigation events as a step-by-step reproduction path • Screenshots on demand during recording • Android / iOS device screens over USB (requires the free local helper) EDITING RECORDINGS Before filing the bug, trim the video down to the moment that matters with a scrubbable timeline, crop the frame, remove audio, or shrink the file size, all done right in the browser, no extra software needed. WHAT IT DOES WITH THE DATA Everything is stored locally in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere until you click "Create Bug Task," at which point it uploads to your own account on your team's tracker, using your own credentials. CREATING BUG TASKS • Connects to your team's issue tracker of choice, set it up once in Settings, and every recording after that goes straight there • Fills in a structured bug report: summary, steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual result, test data, and more • Attaches a self-contained HTML report (video + screenshots + logs + steps) so anyone can review it without installing the extension • Uses Claude AI (your own Anthropic API key) to write the title, summary, and full report in natural language, choose the model and effort level, or set your own tone/style; works without an API key too, using a deterministic fallback MOBILE RECORDING Plug in an Android or iOS device, click Record Mobile, and it captures the device screen alongside the logs. Requires a one-time local helper install (free, open source). PRIVACY All captured data stays in your browser's local storage until you choose to file a bug. No analytics, no tracking, no data sent to Byte Cast's servers, the extension talks directly to the AI provider and issue tracker you configure, using your own credentials.
