The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Browser Time — Active Time Tracker
Browser Time shows you exactly where your browsing hours go — without sending a single byte of that information anywhere but your own device.
Most of us have no real sense of how much time we actually spend on email, social media, news, or that one project we keep telling ourselves is "quick." Browser Time tracks your genuinely active time — only while a window is focused, a tab is the one you're looking at, and you haven't stepped away — and turns it into a clear picture of your day, your week, and your month.
SEE TODAY AT A GLANCE
Click the toolbar icon for an instant snapshot: your total active time today, a breakdown by category, and your top sites — each with its favicon, a time bar, and a category dot. The toolbar badge also shows your running total for the day without needing to click anything.
UNDERSTAND YOUR TRENDS
Open the full stats page for a deeper view with four time ranges — Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, and Last 30 Days:
• Key stats: total active time, daily average, your most active day, top category, top site
• A daily activity chart (with a plain-table view for accessibility)
• A category breakdown bar with percentages
• A full, sortable table of every site you visited, with time and share of total
AUTOMATIC CATEGORIZATION, FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE
Sites are automatically sorted into categories — Development, Productivity, Social Media, Entertainment, Communication, Shopping, AI Tools, News, and Other — using a built-in list of common sites. Disagree with a category, or visit something not on the list? Reassign any domain in one click. Want a category of your own, like "Client Work" or "Research"? Create custom categories and they'll show up everywhere built-in ones do, with their own automatically assigned color.
BUILT FOR PRIVACY, NOT JUST WORDS ABOUT IT
Browser Time makes zero network requests. There's no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no ad tracking, and no remote server of any kind — the extension physically cannot send your data anywhere because it doesn't talk to the network at all. Everything lives in your browser's local storage, on your device, under your control. Back it up or move it to another machine anytime with one-click JSON export and import.
LIGHTWEIGHT AND FOCUSED
No bloated permission list: Browser Time asks only for what it needs to read the active tab's domain, detect when you've stepped away, and save your data locally. It doesn't request access to the content of the pages you visit, and there's nothing else running in the background beyond a small time-tracking check.
Whether you're trying to cut down on doom-scrolling, prove to yourself how much deep work you actually got done, or just satisfy your curiosity, Browser Time gives you the numbers — honestly, locally, and privately.
