About Blur Image
π«οΈ Blur Image: soften any picture right in your Chrome side panel
Blur Image is a small image blur tool that lives in the Chrome side panel. Open a photo, set the strength, and save the result. There is no upload, no account, and no waiting for a server: every pixel is processed on your computer.
Use it when you need to hide something before you share a screenshot or a photo: an address, a license plate, a chat message, a name in a document, or a whole picture you simply want to soften.
π How to blur image in four steps
1. Click the icon in the toolbar. The app opens next to the page you are on.
2. Open a file, drop it onto the panel, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V.
3. Pick Whole image or Selected areas and set the blur strength with the slider.
4. Click Save, or copy the result to your clipboard.
π― Two ways to blur a picture
βΈ Whole image: soften everything with one slider. Handy when you need a soft backdrop for a slide, a wallpaper, or a placeholder, or when you want to soften the photo focus on purpose.
βΈ Selected areas: drag to draw a rectangle and blur part of an image. Add as many areas as you like, move them, resize them by the corners, and delete the ones you no longer need.
βοΈ Blur image text and private details
β€ Blur image text in screenshots: emails, phone numbers, order numbers, prices.
β€ Hide a name or a face in a group shot before you post it.
β€ Blur image background by selecting the areas around your subject.
β€ Cover a license plate, a street sign, or a house number in a vacation shot.
π Your photos stay on your computer
π Nothing you open is sent anywhere. The processing runs in your browser on the canvas built into Chrome.
π No account, no sign-in, and no record of what you edit.
π It remembers only your last strength and mode, so the next file opens with the same settings.
βοΈ What makes this image blurer easy to use
1οΈβ£ Live preview: the blurred image updates as you move the slider.
2οΈβ£ Hold to compare: hold Space to see the original without blur.
3οΈβ£ Keeps your format: JPG, PNG, and WebP files are saved in the same format they came in, which keeps the photo editable in any other app.
4οΈβ£ Keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+V to paste, Ctrl+S to save, Delete to remove an area, Esc to start over.
5οΈβ£ Copy result to clipboard and paste it straight into a chat, an email, or a document.
π‘ A small tool vs. a full photo editor
Photo editing apps, photo editing software, photography enhancement suites, and most picture altering apps can do this too, but they take a while to open and often ask you to upload a file or sign in.
A photo editor online adds one more step: your picture goes to someone else's server first. This extension does one thing and does it locally, in a panel that stays open while you work: image blur online that never actually goes online. Edit photos without leaving the page you are reading.
β Frequently asked questions
π How do I blur an image online without uploading it?
π‘ Open the side panel, drop your picture in, and save. Nothing leaves your device, so blur image online here means in your browser, not on a website, and it works the same on a slow connection.
π Can I blur only part of a photo?
π‘ Yes. Switch to Selected areas, drag a rectangle over the spot you want to hide, and adjust the slider. You can add several areas to one picture.
π How strong is the effect?
π‘ The slider goes from 0 to 100. At 100, the blur radius equals 5 percent of the shorter side of the picture.
π Does the blurred image lose quality?
π‘ The effect is applied to the full-size original, not to the preview, and the file is saved in its original format. Blurred images keep their width and height.
π Will it blur images on web pages?
π‘ It works with files: open, drop, or paste a picture. To hide part of a web page, take a screenshot and paste it with Ctrl+V.
π Is it safe for sensitive documents?
π‘ Yes. The extension has no network access, so the file never leaves your computer.
π I typed blurr photo, blurr pic, or edition photo into the search bar. Did I land in the right place?
π‘ Yes. Whatever you call it, this extension can blur picture details you select or soften the whole thing, and it does that without uploading anything.
𧩠Install Blur Image, pin it to your toolbar, and the next time you need to blur picture details before you share a screenshot, it is waiting in the side panel.
