BetterIG

A better experience for Instagram on your browser. Remember that jump scare when the audio blasts at full volume and you can't even rewind? That's over. BetterIG adds a native video player to Instagram Web with real controls, keyboard shortcuts, quality selection and stories you can actually scrub — the experience the desktop version always should have had. A REAL VIDEO PLAYER • Full playback controls with exact timestamps and a seekable progress bar • Rewind, fast-forward and adjustable playback speed (0.5x to 2x) • Pick the video quality yourself — stop Instagram from serving you a blurry 360p when 1080p is right there • A true fullscreen mode • Auto-scroll to the next reel when a video ends • Pause state that persists while you browse the feed • The control bar follows the video you're watching and stays out of the way until you need it EVERYTHING ONE KEY AWAY • Space — play / pause • Hold Space — watch at 2x • ← / → — seek back or forward 5 seconds • M — mute / unmute • F — fullscreen • L — like The full shortcut list lives inside the player's settings, so you never have to guess. STORIES YOU CAN SCRUB • A progress bar with one segment per story • Drag to any moment and go back without starting over • See exactly how long each story lasts KNOW WHERE YOUR TIME GOES • The toolbar popup shows how much time you actually spent on reels — this week or all time • Reels watched, stories viewed and interactions, all counted locally • Turn the video player and stories controls on or off independently • Reset every counter whenever you want WHY PEOPLE USE BETTERIG • It fixes the broken video experience on Instagram Web today • 100% local — your data is never collected, sold, or sent anywhere • Lightweight: it adds controls without changing the Instagram look you already know • A short welcome tour shows you what changed the first time you open Instagram • Actively developed, with frequent updates COMING NEXT A cleaner chronological feed with the option to hide Reels and filter by keyword, powered-up DMs (keyboard shortcuts, quick replies, jump-to-date, in-conversation search), photo zoom and downloads, and a productivity mode with a built-in Pomodoro and Reel limits.
