About Berth: Session Backup & Recovery
Your browser work deserves a way back.
Berth automatically remembers the working context of your normal browser windows: tabs in order, pinned tabs, and native tab groups with their names, colors and collapsed state. Open a checkpoint, choose exactly what you need, and restore it into new windows while your current work stays open.
RECOVER YOUR PLACE
• Automatic checkpoints after meaningful changes to tabs, windows and groups
• A clear preview: choose individual tabs, groups of tabs or whole windows
• Skip links already open, with resumable recovery if a tab or group fails
• Named workspaces for research, projects and the work you want to return to
• Import Berth and Tab Session Manager JSON files, with unsupported links excluded
A FILE OUTSIDE YOUR BROWSER
Turn on external backups to keep JSON checkpoint files under your browser's Downloads folder. Berth keeps a latest file and bounded hourly copies, with visible saving, completed, paused and error states. External files can survive extension removal or a replaced browser profile.
A completed download is not a verified read-back. Choose a real file from disk to check that it is readable and compare it with the last completed automatic write. You can also download a standalone recovery reader that opens your surviving JSON file locally without Berth.
FREE AND PRO
Free includes three new named workspaces, up to seven days of rolling checkpoint history, external backups, and recovery/export of your existing work.
Berth Pro is $12.99 once through ExtensionPay and Stripe, with unlimited named workspaces and up to 90 days of rolling history. No subscription. Existing backups, imports and restores stay available when you reach the free workspace limit. Dense history is thinned and bounded to keep storage practical.
PRIVATE, WITH HONEST LIMITS
Session contents stay on your device. Berth does not capture page bodies, incognito windows, forms, cookies or document contents. It restores HTTP and HTTPS links and browser structure, not unsaved text or login sessions. Keep external files somewhere you trust: links and titles can be private.
Chrome must be running and the device awake for automatic checkpoints. Writes are coalesced, normally within about 30 seconds, and download preferences or disk problems can delay them. A file in Downloads does not protect against losing the device or disk; copy it to your own backup storage. Berth does not verify another app's cloud sync.
Optional launch measurement is off by default. If you opt in during the eight-week launch run, Berth sends at most one daily batch containing only the UTC date, extension version and action counts. No installation identifier, URL, title, group/workspace name, tab count or file content is sent. Collection stops at run end and the aggregate data is deleted 30 days later. Recovery and Pro work regardless of this choice.
