The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About Bar Translator
🌐 Your address bar, ready to translate.
Check an unfamiliar phrase or write a reply in another language while keeping your current page in view. Bar Translator brings quick translations to the place you already type: Chrome’s address bar.
⌨️ Keep your flow
Preview a translation, press Enter to copy the completed result, and paste it into your message or document.
🌍 Your language, your preferred variant
Translate into your usual language or switch for a single phrase with a short language prefix. Automatic source-language detection handles unfamiliar text. Regional preferences cover variants such as Traditional Chinese and British English.
🔌 Choose your translation service
Use Google Translate’s web endpoint or Lingva Translate without an API key, or connect your own DeepL Free or Pro key. Choose which providers can receive your text and the order they’re tried in. If an attempt fails, the next enabled provider may receive the same text.
🔄 Your preferences across Chrome
Your language and provider settings sync across your Chrome instances. API keys stay local by default, with optional sync chosen separately on each device.
🔒 Clear about your data
Translation requests go directly to your enabled providers. Bar Translator collects no usage analytics and excludes translation text, results, and API keys from production logs. Both local and synced storage hold readable keys.
