About Appliance Electricity Cost Calculator
Find out what any household appliance costs to run, right from your browser toolbar.
Pick one of 62 common appliances (refrigerators, TVs, space heaters, dryers, microwaves, computers and more) or type your own wattage, set the hours per day and days per month, and choose your state. The calculator shows:
- Cost per day, per month and per year
- Energy use in kWh for each period
- Current draw in amps at 120 V and 240 V
Electricity prices are the EIA average residential rate for each of the 50 states plus DC. You can also enter your own rate in cents per kWh from your utility bill.
Wattage data comes from DOE typical appliance wattages and ENERGY STAR certified product data. Actual products vary, so use the nameplate wattage of your own appliance when you have it.
Privacy: no account, no sign-in, no tracking and no data collection. The extension requests no browser permissions, works offline, and only remembers your last inputs on your own device.
