About Anvil: A Homebrew D&D Beyond Magic Items Importer

Anvil is the fastest way to bring your custom homebrew magic items into D&D Beyond! Anvil acts as a smart bridge, automatically navigating through D&D Beyond's complex creation forms to build your items directly from plain text in seconds. Whether you're pasting in an item from a PDF, a Reddit post, or your own notes, Anvil's intelligent parser reads standard 5e formatting (plus older versions like 3.5) and builds the mechanics for you. Features: - Instant Importing: Paste your item description and watch Anvil click through the forms, filling out all the tedious details for you. - Smart Modifier Detection: Automatically detects mechanical bonuses like +1 bonus to AC, resistance to fire, or stat overrides like your Strength score becomes 19. - Custom Spell Generation: Does your sword have a unique ability that costs a charge? Anvil will automatically build it as a custom spell and attach it directly to your item. - Markdown Support: Write your descriptions with standard markdown (**bold**, *italics*) and Anvil converts it into rich text for your final item. - Background Initialization: A seamless one-time setup creates a hidden container for your custom spells so you can get right to importing. Quick Setup Before you can import your first magic item, D&D Beyond requires a "Homebrew Subclass" to act as a hidden container for custom spells. Anvil automates this: 1. Click the Anvil icon in your browser's toolbar (you may need to pin it first). 2. You will see a welcome screen prompting you to Initialize Subclass. Click the green button. 3. Anvil will automatically open a D&D Beyond tab and generate a placeholder subclass. Once the "Subclass successfully created!" popup appears, you are ready to import items! Anvil Pro (Freemium): Anvil is free to use for up to 3 full item imports every single day! If you are a heavy homebrewer or running a massive campaign, you can upgrade to Anvil Pro directly within the extension for a one-time license key. Anvil Pro unlocks: Unlimited daily imports Activation on up to 5 of your personal devices Note: Please do not click on the page or switch tabs while Anvil is actively importing. Let the anvil strike while the iron is hot!
