AI Web Translate

AI Web Translate shows a translation under each paragraph of a webpage, so you can read the original and the translation side by side. It uses your own Claude or ChatGPT account through a small companion app on your computer. FEATURES • Bilingual reading: translations appear below the original text; links, buttons and layout stay intact. • Fast on long pages: text is sent in a few parallel requests and appears in reading order as it streams in. • Selection translation: select text, click the small button, and read the translation in a floating card. Choose another language, edit instructions for that translation, or copy the result. • Your models: Claude Opus, Sonnet and Haiku through Claude Code, or GPT models through Codex. Pick the model and thinking level. • Your style: custom instructions, a terminology glossary, separate instructions for selection translation, and per-website settings. • Keyboard shortcut (Alt+Shift+T / Option+Shift+T) and a right-click "Translate selection" item. • Translations are cached on your device for 30 days, so reopening a page is instant. REQUIREMENTS This extension needs the free AI Web Translate companion installed on your computer (macOS; Linux untested). The companion connects the extension to Claude Code (for Claude models) or Codex (for ChatGPT models), which run under your own account and plan. The extension shows a "Companion unavailable" message until the companion is installed. Setup: 1. Download the companion and follow the steps at https://senlinyy.github.io/ai-web-translate/. 2. For Claude models, install Claude Code and run "claude auth login" once. For ChatGPT models, click "Sign in with ChatGPT" in the extension. 3. Open a webpage, click the extension icon, and choose Translate page. PRIVACY Nothing is sent until you start a translation. The text you translate goes from the extension to the companion on your computer, and from there to Anthropic (Claude models) or OpenAI (ChatGPT models) under your own account. The developer does not collect, receive or store your data, and there is no analytics or tracking. Settings and cached translations stay in your browser.
