Ad Speed

Ad Speed adjusts the playback speed of detected video ads on www.youtube.com. Choose 2x, 4x, 8x or 16x (default: 8x), and optionally mute video ads. When a detected ad ends, Ad Speed restores the previously observed normal playback speed. If ad mute is enabled, it also restores the pre-ad mute and volume settings. The popup lets you enable or disable Ad Speed and change preferences. Preferences are stored on this device. Each YouTube tab keeps its own temporary playback state, while all tabs share your preferences. Ad Speed reads player DOM and playback state locally to detect video ads. The current page path and video identifier are used temporarily to track page changes. It has no external data collection, analytics, telemetry or remote code. Only enabled state, ad speed and mute preference are stored locally. Ads remain available and are played. Ad Speed does not block ad requests, remove ad content, seek to the end, automatically click Skip, or change your video's play/pause state. YouTube may change its player or restrict ad speed. The selected speed may fall back to a supported value or may be unavailable. Ad duration and skip timers are not guaranteed to shorten. Banner ads, sponsor segments inside normal videos, and Shorts ads without a recognized player signal are not handled. If the extension first connects during an ad, it can restore only the playback settings observed when it connected. After installing, reload any existing YouTube tabs.
