The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About A.M.E. Text Analysis
A.M.E. Text Analysis
Profiles writing against seven dichotomies. Reads the page you are on. No servers, no tracking, nothing leaves your browser.
Detailed description
A.M.E. Text Analysis reads the text on a page and profiles the writing against seven
dichotomies — Direct or Indirect, Specific or General, Future/Past or Present, Interactive or
Speculative, Simple or Complex, Process or Results, Flexible or Rigid — plus three data-type
axes and a derived view of seven approaches.
Click the toolbar icon on any page to capture its text, or select a passage first to capture
only that. Capture a second page to compare two writers side by side; the panel lists the axes
in order of how far apart they are.
Everything runs locally. The 14,482-entry word list is bundled inside the extension and no
network request is ever made.
WHAT IT DOES
Reads the current page, or your selection
Scores seven dichotomies and eight data types
Draws a profile diagram showing the three strongest leanings
Compares two texts and ranks the differences
Shows the words and phrases driving each reading
NOTES
Works best on 500 words or more. Below that, treat a reading as a hint.
Google Docs and Office Online draw text on a canvas, so no extension can read them
directly — use the built-in paste box for those.
PRIVACY
No servers, no analytics, no accounts, no host permissions. The extension cannot reach any
site other than the page you are on when you click the icon, and it makes no network requests
at all.

Permission justifications
activeTab
Reads the visible text of the page the user is viewing, only at the moment they click the
extension's toolbar icon. This is the extension's core function — the captured text is scored
locally and shown in the side panel.
scripting
Injects the text-extraction script into the current page at the moment the user clicks the
toolbar icon. Required to obtain the page text that active Tab grants access to.
side Panel
Displays the analysis results in Chrome's side panel.
storage
Holds the captured text in chrome.storage.session so the side panel can read it after the
service worker captures it. Session storage is cleared when the browser closes; nothing is
written to disk.
Remote code
None. All code and data are bundled in the package. No remotely hosted scripts are loaded
or executed.
Data-use disclosures (tick-boxes in the dashboard)
Does your extension collect or use... Website content → YES (page text is read locally
to produce the analysis)
Is the data sold to third parties? → NO
Used for purposes unrelated to the single purpose? → NO
Used to determine creditworthiness or lending? → NO
Transferred off the user's device? → NO
Certify all three compliance statements: data use is limited to the single purpose, is not
sold, and is not used for creditworthiness.
Single purpose statement
Analysing the text of a web page and displaying a linguistic profile of it.
