About Zovo Headers - Modify HTTP Request and Response Headers
Zovo Headers turns the HTTP headers you keep setting by hand into standing per-site rules. Name a domain, list the request or response headers to set or remove, and Chrome applies them on every request to that site and its subdomains until you switch the rule off. It is built for developers and QA who work against local, staging and production backends and are tired of re-typing the same auth tokens, environment flags and debug headers.
What it does
- Set or remove any request header on a site you choose, such as X-Debug, X-Env or Authorization
- Set or remove response headers too, for example Access-Control-Allow-Origin or X-Powered-By
- One rule can carry several headers; each header is marked request or response and set or remove
- Rules cover the domain and all its subdomains; localhost and IP addresses work as well
- Turn any rule on or off with a single switch in the toolbar popup, edit it, or delete it
- An overlap warning flags two enabled rules that touch the same header on overlapping sites
- A "Needs site access" chip with a Grant access button shows when Chrome has not yet allowed a site
- Export every rule to a JSON file and import it again, merging with your rules or replacing them
How it works
Header changes are applied by Chrome itself through the declarativeNetRequest API, not by a script injected into your pages. When you save a rule, Chrome asks for access to that one site only; nothing else is touched. Rules survive browser restarts and stay in place until you change them. Without a licence, up to 5 rules can be active at the same time, and you can keep more rules saved and switch between them.
Privacy
Your rules are stored in local browser storage and never leave your device. There is no account and no sync server. The only network request the extension makes is verifying a Pro licence key with the Zovo licence server when you activate one, and an occasional re-check of that key afterwards.
Pro
Pro removes the 5 active rule limit, so every project and environment can stay covered at once.
