The Chrome Web Store rounds user counts down to the leading digit, so the user line moves in steps. The ratings count is exact and is the better signal of real adoption.
About YTFilter
Tired of YouTube's home feed being full of clickbait, ALL-CAPS titles, and
random low-effort Shorts? YTFilter hides the video cards that don't meet
thresholds you set — quietly, locally, in real time — on the home feed,
search results, subscriptions, sidebar, and channel pages.
YTFilter works entirely inside your browser. There's no sign-up, no account,
no dashboard — install it, open the popup on any YouTube tab, and start
adjusting sliders. Every change applies instantly to the page you're looking
at and is remembered for next time.
HOW IT WORKS
YTFilter reads the same view count, upload date, duration, and title text
that's already visible on each video card and hides any card that fails your
current rules. When you turn on the subscriber filter, it also looks up each
channel's subscriber count once (cached for 12 hours) since YouTube doesn't
expose that number on the card itself. Nothing is analyzed on a server —
every decision is made in your browser.
FEATURES
- Minimum view count (7 steps, from 1K to 100M+)
- Minimum views-per-day — surfaces steady performers, filters thin viral spikes
- Upload date window — last 24 hours, week, month, 6 months, or year
- Duration range — set a minimum, a maximum, or both (in minutes)
- Minimum subscriber count per channel (7 steps, from 1K to 100M+)
- Channel whitelist — always show specific channels, no matter what
- Keyword blocklist — hide titles containing words or phrases you choose
- ALL-CAPS / clickbait-style title detection
- One-click "Hide Shorts" toggle
- Three built-in presets (Casual, Research, Strict) plus Reset
- Dim mode — fade filtered videos instead of removing them, so you can see
what's being caught without losing your place on the page
- On/off master switch and a live "N videos hidden" counter
WORKS EVERYWHERE ON YOUTUBE
Filtering runs on the home feed, search results, Subscriptions, the sidebar/
Up Next list, and channel page grids. It re-runs automatically as you scroll
(infinite loading) and as you navigate between pages, so filtered videos stay
hidden without a manual refresh.
PRIVACY
YTFilter collects nothing. There is no backend server, no account system, no
analytics, and no ad network. Your filter settings are saved with Chrome's
own sync storage (so they follow you across your signed-in devices) and never
pass through YTFilter. The only network requests YTFilter makes are to
YouTube itself, to read a channel's subscriber count when that filter is on.
Full policy: see the Privacy link in the extension's popup footer.
PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED
- storage — save your filter settings and subscriber-count cache locally
- tabs — send your filter changes from the popup to the active YouTube
tab, and clear the toolbar badge when you navigate away from YouTube
- youtube.com — inject the filter and read channel pages for subscriber
counts
